PLI - Pacific Language Institute

PLI presents a unique opportunity to learn English in an international setting. Students come here in order to improve their knowledge of Englsih for career or business purposes, or to learn English in order to enter colleges and universities in North America. They are expected to have a mature and responsible attitude, speak English only, attend classes regularly and make consistent progress.

Course description

The school is in the center of the city, just minutes from art galleries, theaters, libraries, restaurants and cafés.

Pedagogy

Teachers are all professionally trained, with university degrees as well as qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language, and have many years of experience in teaching English both at home and overseas. Many of them have learned a second language themselves, so they are very sensitive to the challenges of learning a language.At PLI, they incorporate a variety of modern learning methods into our English courses, and take full advantage of the multi-media centers.

Their activity program suits all tastes and budgets, from the artistically and culturally inclined students to those more athletic-minded. There's something for everyone!

Equipment

Facilities are new and modern. Their premises are new and modern. Each of the large classrooms is fully equipped with textbooks, dictionaries, reference books, tape recorders, and VCRs. The equipment provided by the school permits the students to practice their language outside of class.

Standard Course

TOEFL Preparation Course

The Intensive TOEFL Preparation Course is designed to help students acquire the skills and confidence necessary to get a high TOEFL score.
TOEFL is recognized throughout the world by universities and businesses as a measure of English proficiency. A high TOEFL score is required of international students by most U.S. colleges and universities for admission.

FCE Preparation Course - First Certificate in English

The FCE indicates level of English proficency and practical use in clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries, particularly tourism, where contact with English speakers is required. Successful candidates must have the ability to handle routine letters and telephone inquiries.
After passing the exam, you will receive a certificate awarded by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. This certificate is recognized by universities and employers throughout the world.

Business English Course

The main objective of this course is to help you to understand English, and to improve your ability to communicate in the language with confidence, especially in business scenarios.
