Cambridge is so much more than a prestigious center of learning! This lively city has lots of attractions to keep students busy outside the classroom. From punting on the River Cam to College Tours, Cambridge offers the perfect balance of the historical and modern to language students from all over the world.
The school has been completely refurbished in recent years. The College neighbors Parker’s Piece, one of the largest parks in Cambridge. Conveniently, Parkside is just a 5 minute walk from the main bus station.

Course description

Classes are at Chesterton Community College, located near the heart of Cambridge City.

Professors are all certified and specialize in teaching English to non-native speakers.

We help students make the most of their time with us by providing scheduled and supervised activities. During activities, students can learn about Cambridge, have fun, try new things and, of course, practice their English.

The program includes:

At EC Cambridge students have a choice of attending either a General
English course or an Intensive English course.
• General English - 20 lessons (45 mins each) per week. The course
will help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas:
reading, writing, speaking and listening. A strong focus is placed on
speech and using the language confidently and fluently.
• Intensive English - 30 lessons (45 mins each) per week. This course
follows a similar programme to General English but with 2 extra lessons
every lunchtime.
• On the first day, all students sit a placement test - The placement test
assesses students in listening, reading, writing and use of English allowing
academic staff to place students in the relevant group for their ability.
• Students study in classes of a maximum of 15 students
• Our dedicated and professional teaching staff provide feedback and
support and help students build confidence to speak English.
• International classes
• EC Cambridge may utilise a Double Banking timetable. Put simply,
students attend morning sessions of classes one week, the next week
they attend afternoon sessions.

Parent information:

  • Social leaders will supervise students during the activities
  • Live-in counselors or leaders supervise students
  • 100 € pocket money recommended for 2 weeks.
  • We ask for parental authorization for the student’s free time without any supervision
  • Curfew Times
    Students should be back at the residence no later than 10.30 pm

• Single or Twin room - students in a twin room are placed with. other students of the same sex. • Shared bathroom (1 bathroom per 4 or 5 students). • Full board accommodation. • Bed linen is provided and changed weekly; students should bring. their own towels. • Students can use the washing machines in each house, they will. be responsible for their own laundry. If they would like to use the. washing machines more than once a week students must provide. their own laundry washing powder. • Student rooms contain a wardrobe, writing desk, chair, reading. lamp, mirror, notice board, single beds and chest of drawers. The rooms may contain a hand wash basin. • The communal area includes a kitchen where the live-in social. leader and students will prepare breakfast and a dining area. • Bedrooms are cleaned and tidied weekly, communal areas are. cleaned and tidied daily. However, all students should assist in. keeping both their own rooms and communal areas tidy. • Students are taken to school by their Social Leader, it is just a 20. to 25 minute walk to the junior centre. Should students opt to catch. a bus to school, bus passes cost approximately £13 per week for. unlimited weekly travel. Meals. Normally meals are as follows:-. • Breakfast: students will receive a breakfast including tea/coffee,. toast, jam and cereal at each boarding house in Jesus College. residence. • Lunch: is provided in various outlets in Cambridge city centre,. these may include restaurants such as Chinese, Italian, Spanish. and American, offering a variety of cuisines. Social Leaders will. accompany students to pre-arranged restaurants each day. Packed lunches will be provided on full day excursions. • Dinner: is served every evening at our Junior centre. A hot meal will. be provided to students and will include a vegetarian option. Salads. and dessert (this may include fresh fruit or yoghurt) are provided. daily. If students require a vegetarian diet we must be informed of this. prior to their arrival.
