The six hour focus option is designed to give students an understanding of their chosen topic, to enable them to learn new skills and to develop their individual strengths through the medium of English. Students receive instruction at each session. At the end of the course, students are awarded a certificate which recognises their achievement in key areas.

Students prepare for the study tour in class prior to the trip and during the day they will complete a worksheet and use what they have learnt in their class work. Their worksheets will form part of their language portfolio.

Two full days and two half days per course selected from the following destinations: London, Cambridge, Ely, Greenwich, Norwich and Colchester.

Afternoon & Evening Events: 14 hours

This component allows students to relax and have fun through a programme of supervised activities, such as football, badminton, basketball and arts and crafts, discos, fashion shows...

Study Option: 6 hours

Students choose one particular sport or activity to focus on. Options include team sports, tennis, football, performing arts, arts and crafts, horse-riding and golf (Wellington College only). At the beginning of the course, students are assessed in their chosen option and work towards developing their knowledge and skills. For example, if a student chooses football they join in a number of individual and team activities. They learn about football strategy, the laws of the game and play a number of matches. At the end of the course students are reassessed and awarded a certificate which recognises their achievement in key areas.

In addition to the core 15 hour language programme, the six hour study option gives students extra time to focus on their English language studies. Students can choose one of the following:

We recommend that your child brings about £75 a week pocket money either in cash or travellers cheques. A £30 refundable deposit to cover keys and damages is also taken from students at the start of the course. Please make sure the money you send covers both pocket money and the deposit.
