This teacher training programme offers practical training in the most up to date teaching techniques while also helping participants to improve their own language skills.
Course content includes portions on teaching methodology, use of materials and the adaptation of teaching materials for different ages and ability levels, class management, lesson planning, weekly teaching observation sessions followed by feedback meetings as well as extensive training in the four skills with a goal on improving the participant’s own language skills and proficiency. Classes on Irish history, culture and the Irish educational system in addition to a full social, activity program also form part of this intensive and dynamic course.

CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It refers to teaching subjects such as science, history and geography to students through a foreign language. This can be by the English teacher using cross-curricular content or the subject teacher using English as the language of instruction. Both methods result in the simultaneous learning of content and English.
