The examination Wirtschaftsdeutsch International (PWD) confirms a competence of communication at a superior level on subjects concerning professional and economic realms. The language lessons preparing for the examination are centered on the professional, the observational and the analytical aspects of the communications applied to the company. The sections allow for the acquisition of pragmatic German for professional life.
Candidates will:

  • Know how to understand and produce a large variety of complex economic texts both written and orally
  • Know how to express themselves properly in professional contexts
  • Know how to appropriately treat business correspondances.

After passing this exam, candidates’ language skills will be recognized at an International level.
After passing this exam, the C1 language level (strong intermediate) is recognized by the European council.

PWD - Economic German Exam

Course description

The Wirtschaftsdeutsch International examination consists of a written examination containing three tests as well as an individual oral examination. For each of the four parts, there is a maximum score of 100 points.
There are 4 sections:
1. Written examination (approximately 180 minutes)
a) Written Understanding (approximately 75 minutes)
b) Oral Understanding (: approximately 75 minutes)
c) Written Expression (approximately 45 minutes)
2. Oral examination (approximately 20 minutes)
Examination of 20 minutes with 3 sections in which you must know how to present yourself in the professional world, present a company / institution and argue during a conversation.
Taking notes during the preparation is authorized. However, notes may not be used while taking the test.
During the interview with a proctor, comments must be expressed in a free, coherent, linguistically correct way for each candidate.
The test is independently scored by two correctors according to five criteria: completion of the task, oral communication skills, expression, linguistics exactness, pronunciation and intonation.
