Exams German

With the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung(ZOP), you prove that you possess a variety of knowledge of the standard German language. This knowledge allows you to understand difficult texts, to express yourself easily, orally and in writing. The ZOP demonstrates the level of achievement equivalent to a Master's degree in the German language and is recognized in professional contexts. The certificate obtained after passing the ZOP will exempt you from having to take a entry language exam at German high schools and universities. This exam indicates a C2 language level (Advanced/Master) to the European Council.

Course description

The exam is composed of both oral and written examination parts
1. Written examination (approximately 310 minutes)
a) Explanation of text (approximately 90 minutes)
b) Written expression (approximately 90 minutes)
c) Drafting (approximately 90 minutes)
d) Oral comprehension (approximately 30 minutes)
2. Oral examination (approximately 20 minutes)
The exam is composed of two, ten minute tests.
a) You will show correct pronunciation by reading aloud an authentic text of information (of twenty lines approximately). You must be able to summarize the principal ideas presented in the text and prove solid comprehension of the essential statements.
You must be able to give your opinion in a coherent way on one of the subjects presented in the text.
You will receive 15 minutes to prepare the first part of the exam and you may take notes. Dictionaries are not allowed.
b) Discussion with test proctor where you will demonstrate your ability to speak freely and coherently on a subject of your choice.
This part should be prepared at home as there is no time given before the examination to prepare for this section.
