Both the standard and intensive language course increase your general knowledge of the language, and allow you to acquire everyday communication skills. The intensive language course is great for those who prefer a more focused and intensive environment in which to learn a language.
An intensive course is generally more than 22 hours a week.

Come and study English in a real environment with students from around the world and also socialize with native English students.
The university offers a wide range of international language examinations (Cambridge examinations, Anglia Examination, IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC) and is a registered center for a number of exam boards including the University of Cambridge local Examination Syndicate, Anglia Examinations Syndicate and TOEIC.

The primary focus of this course is to give you the maximum opportunity to study English. This more intensive English language course concentrates on improving grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation with a greater focus on the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Throughout the course there is a strong emphasis on English for communication.
Afternoon classes offer further opportunities to practise your English. You can choose from English Extra, Business or Exam Preparation.

Afternoon Options :
English Extra
English Extra is designed to take the grammar and vocabulary you have learned and bring it to life in a communicative classroom environment. The four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing will be developed through a wide variety of tasks and activities that put you at the centre of the learning process. As well as practising the four skills, you will be supported and corrected where appropriate on the accuracy of your English.
Exam Preparation
Exam Preparation classes include those for PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS examinations. The classes will fully familiarise you with the structure of your exam. You will learn the perfect exam techniques alongside the grammar, vocabulary and skills you need to succeed.
You will have a full practice exam and teachers will use past exam papers in your lessons, giving you the skills and confidence to be perfectly prepared.
Leisure Activities (included FREE)
Includes activities such as:Badminton, Rock Climbing, Conversation Club, Football, Guitar Club, Pool, Rugby, Running Club,Taekwondo, Tennis, Yoga, Zumba etc.
Social Events (extra costs may apply).

The course fee includes:

  • Most activities are free, however, Saturday excursions are subjected to a surcharge.
  • Access to distance learning service. These e-learning courses are available for the preparation of the course of 8 weeks before the start of their training. It will help you improve your speaking skills, develop your skills in reading and comprehension of of texts, also learning and reinforce your grammar.

  • Being in possession of an EU passport and have lived in Europe for at least 3 years before registering.

Westgate Halls are for those students who are 18 and over. It provides superb self-catering or full board student accommodation for 160 residents. Within this over 18s accommodation, all rooms are single and en-suite with some having been specifically designed to meet the needs of disabled students. Cooking utensils, crockery and bedding are not provided this must be brought by the student. Westgate is a secure building with a swipe card entry system for each block, flat and individual room. There is a Halls Supervisor available between 8.30am and 10.30pm. After 10.30pm a Security Warden is on duty solely for the Halls of Residence. Westgate hall of residence is open over holiday periods meaning that student residents of the hall can stay in Westgate over holiday periods. Alternatively if the students intend to visit home they do not need to take all their belongings with them. Woodlands provides secure accommodation for 106 students between 16-17yrs old at the time of admission. This on-campus student accommodation comprises single and twin-bedded study bedrooms, some of which are en-suite. Shower and toilet facilities are situated on each floor of the 16-18yrs old accommodation. Woodlands hall is staffed 24 hours a day by trained supervisors. All communal corridors have been fitted with CCTV to create a positive and safe environment. Student privacy remains a priority and there. is a clear CCTV policy to ensure this. Woodlands hall of residence is closed over Easter and Christmas holiday periods. We understand that not all students can go home during the holidays. With this in mind we can help you arrange Homestay accommodation during this time. Refundable damage waiver and key deposit of 200 GBP, due in advance.
