Bell's Young Cambridge Scholars is a challenging subject-based programme designed to improve students’ ability to study a range of university subjects in English. The academic programme combines:

The course is delivered with a university-style approach whereby the students choose from streams of modular subjects:
The Science Pathway focuses on: STEM subjects and includes Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Engineering. This Pathway is for those students who may be thinking of pursuing a degree and then later a professional career in the science, technological or medical fields.
The Humanities Pathway offers students an introduction to the study of British Literature, International Relations, Philosophy, Social Studies and Environmental Science. This Pathway is perfect for students who are interested in making in-depth analyses of factors that have shaped the modern world and what can be done to address the global issues.
It’s important that students develop a strong foundation of study skills to succeed at university. These academic skills include: essay writing, analysing data, research and presentation skills, critical thinking and expressing opinions.
Students will therefore spend time to develop these skills as well as their exam technique – particularly the IELTS exam – an internationally-recognised language level test and entry requirement for British universities.
LECTURE PROGRAMME
Lectures by university speakers
To prepare for the best, you should learn from the best. Students will attend real university-style lectures on various subjects, such as bio-medical sciences, politics, film studies, fluid dynamics, and sustainability to name just a few.
Previous lectures have explored new ideas on topics like: film studies, philosophy, quantum physics and politics. One of the lectures will focus on the skills, experience and qualities that students need to become a University of Cambridge student.
There will also be a session delivered by experts on University entrance procedures where students will gain invaluable advise on the enrolment procedures for UK universities and how to make applications etc.
Learn by doing
The activity programme is an essential part of the course. It helps students to practise their skills and develop natural, fluent language use. Students on the University Preparation Programme will have opportunities to enjoy these activities:
Sports such as football, basketball, tennis and cricket
Creative arts such as T-shirt painting, and photography
Evening activities like school discos, fashion shows, and quiz nights
Intensive Summer programme for Teenagers - Summer program BELL - Cambridge - The Leys School University preparation programme 23 lessons per week (23:00 hours)
We recommend that your child brings about £90 a week pocket money either in cash or travellers cheques.
A £30 refundable deposit to cover keys and damages is also taken from students at the start of the course.
Please make sure the money you send covers both pocket money and the deposit.
