Think Global! is designed not only to maximise a student’s language development but to do this through using UNESCO’s ‘Four pillars of learning’: learning to know; learning to do; learning to be and learning to live together.
By investigating and discussing global themes using the 21st century learning skills, students improve all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and gain the confidence necessary to discuss, debate and challenge with their peer group.
Through the course’s weekly themes, students will be expected to think critically about a rangeof the 21st century world’s pressing issues, develop communication skills to perform in debates and presentations, collaborate to
compete in tasks, and invoke their creativity to produce project work ranging from short movies to an online school magazine.
Topics for the week include:
• Civilization and Society: culture and identity, peace and conflict, global issues and the changing state of our world
• The Earlscliffe Festival in Art, Film and Media
• 21st Century Citizens, inspired by Global Sustainable Development Goals
• STEM week which sees students workingon science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects
